Wallis and Futuna

Introduction

Relations between Wallis and Futuna and the European Union date back to the entry into force in 1976 of the specific decision of the European Council on the Association of the Overseas Countries and Territories with the European Economic Community. There has been a regular increase in grant funding with a substantial increase with the 9th EDF that concentrated all funds made available including transfer from previous EDFs on one sector with two components: infrastructure, including education buildings rehabilitation, and port facilities development, for a total amount of € 15.9 million for the period 2004-2007.  Strategy agreement between Wallis and Futuna has just been signed on August 16th, 2005.
